Watchlists are one of the key features in WealthCharts – a wide range of tools are compatible or even dependent on access to custom symbol lists. Using the Watchlist feature, you can create, manage, and view such custom lists of symbols.
In addition to widespread use all around the platform, the Watchlist feature allows users to see what the daily, weekly, monthly, and year-to-date percent changes are for each stock on the list, updated in real-time.
Symbols can be added to a watchlist using the + Add Symbols menu in the top right corner of the watchlist window. Next to each symbol on the left end of its row there is also an X button, that allows you to delete the symbol from the current symbol list. Please note that any actions done in a watchlist do not require saving and are saved automatically.
Multiple symbol lists can be created and switched between in a Watchlist window. To do this, you may use the dropdown in the top left corner of the Watchlist window.
A watchlist management menu is available by clicking the funnel icon in the top left corner. Here, many settings are available, starting with a complete list of all your symbol lists. Each symbol list here will have an edit and delete button next to it, that allows you rename the list or get rid of it for good.
New watchlists can be created in the Add a Watchlist menu.
The Column Visibility menu allows you to hide unused columns by unchecking them here.
Most scanners in WealthCharts can have a symbol list “assigned” to them. Do not confuse this with the symbol list that is being analyzed by any given scanner, this rather servers as a quick to use connection, allowing you to add symbols identified in your scanner directly to the assigned watchlist.
Once a symbol list is assigned to a scanner, checkboxes next to the symbols in your scanner can be used to select these symbols, and add them to the assigned symbol list in just one click using the “Add To Watchlist” button above.
Symbol lists can be exported and imported using a code or a csv spreadsheet file.
Exporting with a code is the most straightforward option but would only work between WealthCharts users. To do this, go to the Export With Code menu, pick a symbol list and click on “Export”. A code will be generated on the screen, which can in turn be sent to another WealthCharts user, and imported under the Import With Code section.
Alternatively, symbol lists can be exported and imported using csv spreadsheet files. To do this, go to the Export With CSV menu, pick a symbol list, and click on “Export”. This will trigger a download with a spreadsheet file that contains all your symbols.
To import a spreadsheet file, you may go to the “Import From CSV” menu, choose a watchlist to import to, and choose the file by browsing to it on your PC. Please note that specific formatting requirements have to be observed for the spreadsheet file being imported:
• Only .csv files are supported.
• Your .csv should contain only one sheet.
• All symbols must be in upper case.
• The first column should be the symbol column, and contain the header "Symbols".
• Each symbol should be in a new row.
